Friday Night Results!!!

First I need to say WOW.. the turn out for last nights Friday Night Sew-in was absolutely amazing.

Bobbi and I were talking this morning about how great it is that all of us from around the World were able to get together and sew last night. Her and I are both the type of people who need that little extra push sometimes after a busy day of giving to everyone in your family.. it's hard to take time for just you!

I can honestly say that my house was crazy last night (husband packing for a work trip to San Jose, kids playing roller hockey on back patio) and if didn't have this commitment to all of you, I may not have taken time for MYSELF and sewn last night. So THANK YOU! You gave me the motivation to do it as well. And I'm so pleased with what I was able to get done.

So, with that said, it's time to share.
First I was able to sew 25 of my siggy blocks. Only 76 to go. And let me tell you, I don't think these are as "easy and quick" as people say. Either that or I'm a slow sew'er.

And second, I was able to complete this quilt top. It's adorable "Robots" fabric by Michael Miller. I had almost all the squares done before last night. I just needed a couple more and then to put it together. Some of which I did this morning since I had to get up early to see my husband off to California before the Sun came up.

I can't wait to look at all your blogs to see what you worked on. I will be doing that tonight. Since I'm a "single mother" while my man is gone, I'll have to wait to get some computer time until all the household duties and little people are attended too.

And one last thing - I was looking at the calendar for February's Sew-in. I'm thinking the 12th or the 19th? Any votes?

The giveaway winner for all participants will be announced tomorrow. Have a good weekend!

  1. Thanks so much Heidi for hosting the Friday Night Sew-In. I too sometimes need a little push to get things rolling. I've visited some of the other blogs and I am amazed at what was accomplished last night! It was great fun quilting with over 100 other quilters.

  3. So I did sew last night.....but do we have a site to chat about what we are doing or do we just go and look at each others blog on Saturday?

  8. You got a lot done last evening, that's great. I love the fabric in your signature blocks. I got a Bunny Hill stitchery done last evening and posted a picture. I was working on it and almost done, my husband went to bed and I stayed up to finish. I vote for February 19th. Thanks for doing these Sew-In's.

  9. Thanks so much for hosting this! I had so much fun! I have such a hard time just dropping everything to sew, knowing ahead of time that I was going to do this made it "ok" I can't wait for the next one!
    Your blocks look great!

  10. I accomplished quite a bit...I got my mini-quilt quilted, and made the binding. I just have to attach the binding today and it'll be ready to go in the mail on monday as it's for a swap. Yay! I'm posting pics on my blog right now ( http://nn.dlpgraphics.ca/blog ). I even managed to get a bit of cross stitching done as well as a new show came on t.v. and I just had to watch it.

  11. Maybe we should start a Flickr group to show what we have all done, and we can chat on there.

  12. Thanks for organizing this "event"--it was a lot of fun! As far as the February Sew-In goes, which weekend is Presidents' Day? One of the nice things about THIS Sew-In is that it's a three-day weekend (MLK's BD holiday on Monday and for the first time our office is closed for it!). I think that makes starting a project on the Friday night more fun!

  14. This was so much fun. It was nice to "give myself permission" to devote an entire night to just sewing. Sometimes we get so crazy in our lives that we forget to carve out time to pursue an activity that is ours and ours alone. Thanks so much for initiating this! It was extra nice to have it scheduled for a weekend that was a long one.

  19. Thanks again, Heidi for hosting....I had an awesome time sewing and wondering who and where the gals were from and what they were working on. Either date is good for me....love your siggy blocks...I was too late in signing up.

  20. Thanks so much for organizing this. I also tend to need extra pushes and these have been just that! I really like the top you made. Those fabrics are so fun. I remember admiring them and trying to create an excuse to buy them when they first came out! Your siggy blocks are looking great! I am impressed by anyone who has agreed to make 101 of those things! :)

  21. Heidi, glad you had a good night, too. It's amazing how much a little public committment can motivate you. Good luck with the siggy blocks.

The 12th or the 19th will work for me.

    Thanks,

    Sue

  23. Thanks again for organizing the fun. I felt like I, too, accomplished something last night I wouldn't have made time for otherwise. I like your fabric for the siggy swap and I am loving that robot quilt top...so cute. I really liked that print...I almost bought it and then my girlfriend ended up having twin girls, so I went a bit more girly!

  24. These are always the best nights. It is so much fun to have a "commitment" to others.

I love your siggy blocks. I need to get cranking on mine.

And...the robot top is fabulous.....very modern looking.

I vote for the 12th as we will be gone the 19th.

  26. Thank you Heidi and Bobbi for these nights. I am so pleased that you both got to participate. Nice to have ME time.
Love your siggy's blocks and no they are not as easy as some folk think.
Your quilt will be great when finished too.
I would love to sew on the 12th Feb as I will be in PERTH for a sewing retreat on the weekend of the 19th and have no way of posting till the Sunday. Oh I surpose that would be okay as it is only Saturday for you. LOL
Love the flickr group will get over and post. Thanks again Heidi

Did you say February's sew-in, so this really is going to be a regular event, it wasn't just a dream? Hooray, hooray and thank you and Bobbi so much for taking the time to organise it. Either date, which ever suits most people :)
