Last fall I received the LLBean Home catalog and instantly fell in love with this quilt!
I have found a great way to make the postage stamp quilt using scraps WITHOUT sewing each little tiny square - I'm getting ready to start it sometime towards the end of February.
BUT - I thought I would check with all of you first and see if anyone is interested in a Postage Stamp Quilt Along? I would be posting the first one in late February.
This really wouldn't be as hard as it might look. I will include details to let you know exactly what you will need for whatever size you want to make. I will be making a KING size.. I know.. that's big!
If you are interested - leave a comment and let me know and I will be sure to get it rolling. This will be a great way to use up those scraps!
im in...im in...im in
ReplyDeletewe know i have plenty of fabrics!
I have wanted to make a postage stamp quilt for years. Count me in!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I need a king size quilt! I am just a beginner - do you think I can? Just what I need, a quilt along to look forward to. Yes. Please.
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt:) I'm in.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested. I love the postage stamp quilt and would love to have an easier way to make it and use up some of my fabric as well.
ReplyDeleteYeah I would like to as well, have been thinking about it lately and that one looks fairly easy. Good way to use up some stash.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make a postage stamp quilt, I'm in!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to join in and learn how to make it without individually piecing each "stamp".
ReplyDeleteWhy not, would love to join in thnaks Heidi.
ReplyDeleteI started a few years ago making a one inch 5 x 5 from the scraps of each & every quilt I made. The idea was to have a quilt that was a record of my all quilts!
ReplyDeleteShame I didn't keep it up but a have about 10 little 5" blocks already
Not that I should start another quilt, but I'm definitely interested!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested as long as it's easy and I only need a full size
ReplyDeleteAlways up to making something new. Let's do it. :)
ReplyDeleteSign me up, especially for a King size! I saw an antique Postage Stamp quilt at the Mint Museum in Charlotte last summer, it was amazing and I love the look!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to give it a try. I certainly have loads of fabric that I would like to find a nice home for. Of course I really need to start another quilt too!!
ReplyDeleteTotally down. I started one earlier with some scraps but a more disciplined approach would be good. And end of February will mean all of my bee-commitments will be finished and I'll be free to finally make something for me. (I've never kept anything I've made!)
ReplyDeleteWell I love the Friday Night Sew in, and I think that is a very pretty quilt, I am in too. I will even make a King size too! ALTHOUGH I have already been saving 2" blocks to make a quilt kinda like this, but it seems like I won't need them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt and great way to use scraps!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in quilting along; my 2010 goals are to use scraps to make ten quilts to donate to Project Linus. I have five tops done, and lots of scraps to go! This would be a great project. I haven't signed up for the Friday Night Sew-In because my schedule is different every week and I am never sure if I can commit. But if I am free, I'll be sewing!
ReplyDeleteI,too, am an amatuer, but I am up for the challenge! Bring it on!
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes!! I need to bust some stash! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat quilt. I too would like to make a postage stamp quilt. Count me in as I can't wait to use up some of my scraps.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that quilt. I'm interesed, have loads of scrap material.
ReplyDeleteYup, I will sew along with you'all. Mentioned it on a quilting forum and several others said they may join up too.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join in too! Our new king sized bed needs a quilt desperately and I have plenty of scraps to use up.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I found your blog via a picture of baby shoes you made on flickr. :) I just love cloth baby shoes!
Just found out about this when I saw the button on the sidebar of another new blog I read. This sounds fun...even though I have four other quilt-alongs going. I'd love to give it a try...just because using up scraps is such a good thing, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI have been making a postage stamp quilt now for the past year
ReplyDeleteI cut and save the squares and make blocks every few weeks, before I know it in another year probably I will have a queen size postage stamp quilt
I make it 10" square block
100 squares! much easier to break it down to blocks
I actually just made one into a little quilt last month.
I posted about it too

I'm curious about how this is put together. I love the quilt, have the scraps and might just take this on as a challenge. I'll keep watching for more info and will start digging out white and cream colored scraps.
ReplyDeleteJust read about this on another blog...my stash is mostly scraps, can I join in this one?
ReplyDeleteDeal me in, just finished one but I would like to try something new.
