In Need of Some Cheap Inspiration?!

We are library folk.. we love going to the local library. And my kids tend to bring home too many books.. just like their Mom.

We made the trip yesterday. I got this lovely pile...

These 2 aren't quilting related. One is knitting and the other crochet. The crochet book has library 'checkout' stamps in the cover from 1984. I love that.

Here is another oldie. Full of scrappy quilt inspiration.

Here is another non quilting book. It's for braided rugs. I've always wanted to make one. But I don't see it happening any time soon. Fun to look though.

And this quilting book is one of my favorites. My library has 6 or 7 volumes of this series. They are awesome!

And this Classic Country... I'm not a big Thimbleberries fan but I must say that this book is filled with beautiful quilts.

And I'm SO HAPPY that we went yesterday. Because today we are cooped up in the house due to a Spring Snow Storm.

How about you? Do you frequent the library for inspiration?

  1. We go to the library once a week and love it! My go to is cookbooks. For some reason I love to read cookbooks.

  2. I had to look at your profile to see where you live when you mentioned spring snow storm... I'm in Duluth! Howdy neighbor! Lovely spring day, isn't it?! I've checked out some of those very books in your pile!

  4. I love to pick up just those kind of books. Our local small town library hardly ever gets anything new in down this line but I can get on line and search a topic and have them shipped in from other libraries in the system. Sometimes I have to wait a while and forget about ordering them in. Then it is a surprise.

  5. Oh, yeah! I just brought some home yesterday, about 10 boooks actually. This can be a weekly or monthly thing depending on my mood. Some books I just look through and some I end up loving so much I go out and buy my own copy.

  6. One of the first things I do when I've moved some place new is to find the local library and sign up!

What a great group of books to be snow-bound with... enjoy!

  7. I haven't been to the library for years, I used to when I was a kid I loved it there.

I am afraid I use the internet a lot when I am looking for inspiration.

  8. I'm a terror as I often over borrow and have to extend the borrowing term online when the library sends me an email reminder. We have a great library system here and our library staff are so helpful and friendly.

  11. I love the library too - it's fun and a free activity for me and the kiddos. I was fortunate that for the longest time we had a quilter who worked at the library. She retired last year but before she left she ordered LOTS of quilting books! I spy a few books you borrowed that live in my home library! ;)

  12. Love the library! I also checked out the very Scrap Quilts book a couple weeks ago...time to get it back or renew!
I also tend to be selfish with checking out books by Kaffe Fassett, renewing as much as is allowed :-) Dontcha miss those old library sleeves in the back of the book which held the card we pulled out, wrote our name, and got that date stamp? Ah, the simple life.

  13. My kids love the library. We just went yesterday to pick some books that we had on hold. I was joking with the kids that it was our quickest trip ever 45 minutes, normally it's a couple of hours. Lol
