Wool.. the other fabric

I've been playing with some felted wool lately.. and I think I'm hooked.

I made this little pincushion - and filled with crushed walnut shells. It's so fun to play with.

And the best part was that I sat outside on the swing, enjoying the evening air, and did the entire thing while my boys rode their bikes.

Even though I need to get better with my stitches, I'm thinking my next wool project should be some kind of wall hanging.. maybe for the holidays? any ideas? Any tips? Have you ever worked with wool?

ooh.. or maybe some Christmas ornaments?  Pin It

Oh, very cute! It's nice to find a new obsession that's as portable as that, isn't it? :) Well done!

Soooo cute too!!! You need to check out Sandi"s blog at http://alegacyofstitches.blogspot.com/. She does incredible wool work and is really happy to help. She even has a wool buddies group. As well, she lives in MN.

You are in trouble now, there are soooo many things you can do with wool, LOL. I love making penny rugs, I am also working on a quilt that was a BOM and has patchwork squares and squares with wool applique it's called Greenpiece, if you go to my June 7th post you can see some of the squares. Have fun with your new skills.

Your Pincushion is cute. Seems wool is the trendy thing to work with. I have not worked with it yet.

cute pin cushion. Kaaren from the Painted quilt does beautiful work in wool and this site http://pumpkinpatchprimitivequiltshoppe.blogspot.com/2010/08/scarecrow-jack-in-pumpkin-patch.html is a good place for wool and stuff.

My first 'wool' project was a snowman pillow; fond memories! The shop owner of one of my local quilting shops got me hooked! Enjoy! :)

Very cute pincushion Heidi. I haven't worked with wool but have been wanting to try. I have needed to force myself to NOT start something new until my to-do list is whittled down.

Hello Heidi,

Your woolwork is beautiful. I think you will probably be making more than a wall hanging.

Enjoy.
Happy days.
