Busy Weekend and a GIVEAWAY!!

I had a very fun and busy weekend. My sister and her 2 grown children came to visit. We barely slept all weekend and we did a 5K on Saturday morning. By Sunday night.. I was pooped.

Saturday night after a little Just Dance competition on the xbox with all the kids, we sat down to sew.

My sister wanted some more of these iphone/ipad/ipod holders. And actually, they can be used for any phone or tablet.

The pattern is from HERE.

The pattern says to fill them with rice - However, I usually fill them with crushed walnuts. I like they way they feel.

BUT, my sister really wanted them to be washable. So we filled them with those poly pellets that are used for stuffed animals. They are more spendy than the crushed walnuts but are definitely washable.

I'm in love with the argyle fabric!

And finally.. I got my package of advanced copies of the newest 100 Blocks Magazine this past weekend as well.

It's great and full of inspiration so I'm giving one away!!!

All you need to do is leave me a comment. Just tell me what you would like for Mother's Day.. or what you have planned for yourself.

Giveaway will end Thursday noonish..

Great giveaway! We don't have anything special planned this year for Mother's Day yet... with our snow it seems like May is a long way away.

O I would love to win this. It has already been Mother's Day here in uk, and I had breakfast in bed! Thanks for the giveaway.

Of course anything quilt related would be on the top of my list. My real mothers day is on my son's birthday, it still beats out any other day of my life as the BEST! I've had the most enjoyable gift everyday for the last 13 + years, it only gets better. Well, until the day I had to look up at him! ;->

Enjoy your Mother's Day, ;-> Toni Anne

I have made the same holder based on the same tutorial. I gave it away as to my son's teacher. I've now bought more rice to make 3 more.
I will be heading home to Canada from the Home Machine Quilt Show held in Salt Lake City on Mother's Day. A friend and I taking a week and are driving down. Am very excited!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Mother's Day is a busy day on the farm.
The men are always in the field planting crops.
This year they will be putting in long hours with the weather this spring. I go to a local deli to pick up chicken, potato salad, and all to go with it. including paper plates. I take it to the field where we all gather for a picnic! No cooking or dishes.

Thank you for your give away!

This post was timely! My husband got me a nexus 7 to use when sewing and cooking but I need to prop it up somehow. Now I will need to make one of these! Thanks!

For Mother's Day, I just want to be taken care of. No chores, just relaxing time with my family.

For Mother's Day, I'd love to have all the kids home for dinner. However, they're scattered and it's hard enough to get together for a big holiday. We'll be getting our chicks just a couple of days later, so in reality, I'll probably be cleaning and setting up the chick pen and grow lights for part of the day :)

Those Iphone holders are really cute... aside from being very useful. Mother's Day for me is best when we are all together and enjoying each other... at home or at the lake.

I would LOVE a 100-blocks publication. Maybe I'll even submit a design someday. In the meantime, I have no idea what Mother's Day plans are. I AM the mother, and that is someone else's job to plan, or not. Either way is OK with me.

Thanks so much for the chance to win one of your magazines!!

For Mother's Day this year, I'd love to have all the family...2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 6 grandchildren to my home or to meet up for a picnic at a nearby park. (We've done this many times and it's great fun if the weather cooperates.)

Just being with the kids and grandkids makes the day super-special for me.

What I would like for Mother's Day... is to NOT organise my own day, I would love my husband to plan, or cook, or do, or whatever so that I don't have to!!
I look forward to the next FNSI...

I love these magazines! Mother's Day is hard. My hub and I have both lost our own Mom's, and we have always celebrated with them. I'd just enjoy a quiet day. thanks for sharing.

Cute phone holders. Very good idea. I am hoping to get a family portrait done for mothers' day. With grown children, it is hard to get everone together at the same time.

For Mother's Day...I would love to have a day to just do whatever I'd like (reading, quilting, playing piano, etc.) with someone preparing all my meals, bringing them to me and then taking away the dirty dishes and washing them. It sure is fun to dream, anyway!

Narelle said...

A copy of the new magazine for my Mother's Day would be just perfect.
I'd be happy with some 'me' time to be honest...it's been such a busy April :)

i am looking forward to having everyone home and lance cooking tea like he always does. Such a lovely restful day and i wouldn't mind if it rained a bit too

I always enjoy a meal with my sons. The younger is a chef and has to cook for other mothers, so our elder son usually takes us to eat there. At least he comes out of the kitchen to sit and visit for a bit. And oh, I do love me some flowers :-)

Every year (since 2007) my MIL and I go to a weekend Quilt Retreat for Mother's Day. We have a blast, we meet/re-meet some fabulous mom/daughter combos, do some shopping and thrifting and, oh, a BIT of sewing LOL!

Hope you have a great Mother's Day!

Unknown said...

Heidi, I have so much fabric now that I wish someone would buy it all and then....I would only buy enough for one project at a time (yeah,right...). Nice thought though. That would be my Mother's Day wish.

Love the iphone holders but wow, walnut shells are everywhere anymore!! I thought it was just pincushions. Scary, as my dd is allergic. I hate to think about what unexpected places she would encounter them when she's out on her own. thankfully she carries epinephrine everywhere she goes but we celebrate each time we throw them away unused.
