Attention Texas!

I will be taking a trip to Texas soon for work. I will be alllll by myself.

You know what that means... I will have my evenings to explore on my own. Nobody's agenda but my own.

I've been researching quilt stores and yarn stores. But I trust you guys so much more than google!!

I will be north of Dallas in Frisco TX. Where should I go? What should I eat?

My daughter lives in Frisco and I visit often. You need to visit two shops in McKinney, about 15 miles east. The two shops that are the best are The Quilt Asylum (in the shopping plaza at Virginia Pwky and US 75 on thr east side of US 75) and Happiness is Quilting in downtown McKinney. I can't remember the name of the restaurant we always eat at in downtown McKinney. There is a great Mexican restaurant in downtown Frisco called Mattitos. Hope this helps.

I have lived in Australia since 2005, but I am a native of Fort Worth. My all time favorite quilt shop EVER is Cabbage Rose in Fort Worth. Fort Worth is a sister city of Dallas, about 45 minute easy drive heading west. My all time fave Mexican food place to eat is El Paseo,(the one on Jacksboro Highway) which is a family run business. I always get Tamales. If you go, please eat some for me, then eat some more! LOL. Mexican food is not all that popular here, and if you do try to make it at home, you have to make do with the ingredients available. There are other fantastic things here that make up for the lack of Mexican food though. Have fun!! xx debbie

I agree with the Quilt Asylum visit! They are so great!
McKinney has a great old main street where Happiness is Quilting is with a couple of unique restaurants (Spoons and also Sauce on the Square).
Farther North in Van Alstyne is Alford Inn and Quilt Shoppe (Batiks, Civil War and a bit of Modern fabric, last time I was there 2 years ago)

Frisco has a great mall with a movie theater :)

You can't go wrong with BBQ either. Spring Creek BBQ in one of our favorites. It is a chain and I know there is one in Frisco and one in McKinney. Hutchins BBQ is also in Mckinney near Happiness is Quilting. It is a local haunt.
Texas Roadhouse is now such a huge chain that they probably have one near your home, but they have awesome food, especially the rolls.
I wish I knew more about Frisco. I tended to stick close to home. Traffic can be hairy sometimes especially if there is construction.

If you need ice cream in Texas then Braums is your place. Unless you are at the grocery store then it would be Blue Bell brand. Braums also does Burgers etc, and we like their crinkle fries.

Shopping is excellent there in North Texas. There is an outlet mall in Allen as well as a really fun but sometimes pricey place in Allen I think called Watters Creek. The best store ever is there, Charming Charlies. Super fun accessories and some clothes for not a lot of $$.

I have the word out to my TX pals to tell me if there is something fabulous that has popped up since I left.
Have a fun trip!

A few more ideas for you - Multiple people told me these: Babe's chicken (Get the smoked chicken), Sam Moon (shopping)(I don't personally like this store, but lots of people told me this one. It is by the Stonebriar Mall there in Frisco.)
The Snocone Lady for a snowcone(No idea about this one) and Sprinkles cupcakes.
There is also a Frozen Custard place by the mall that is good.

Have fun!

I agree with the Quilt Asylum & Happiness is Quilting, but I also love my Local Quilt shop called "the Old Craft Store" in downtown Carrollton, Texas which is not too far from Frisco too. They have the sweetest ladies working there. When I had not been in for a while, they actually gave me a call to see how we were doing (I was on bedrest). They also have an amazing space which show cases the fabrics and all the project ideas, they simply make me want to quilt after just an hour of walking around I am just so inspired!

Spring Creek is pretty tastey, but if you have the chance to do the Sunday brunch at Kenny's Wood Fire Grill in Addison, it is heavenly. It is easily my favorite treat and the service there is amazing.

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You clearly know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?
