Nothing "Lady" about it!

I had no idea how many different animals migrate through this part of the country. Seriously.. I'm shocked.

Apparently the Lady Bug is one of them. At some point they have gone from being "cute and harmless" to "ENOUGH ALREADY"!!!!

I have them everywhere..

in my Kitchen..

on my ceilings..

in my cupboards..

on every door and window..

Everywhere!

Hard to see them in this picture - but there is like 10 in one corner of the back entry.

And I don't even want to know what these two were doing! For crying out loud - there are children in the house!

"Mommy - why do those two keep flapping their wings?"

"They must be fighting."... that's my story.. and I'm sticking to it. Pin It

They are probably Asian Beetles, they look very similar to the Lady bugs. They usually appear after the leaves start coming off of plants, primarily soybeans, where they eat aphids (I know more than you wanted to know). They are trying to find a warm place for the winter and can come in very tiny cracks. I have had good luck with a product called Enforcer 365, I have found it at Ace Hardware stores.

Yup, those look like the Asian Beetles to me, too. They have a nasty sting! Just suck those buggers up with the vacuum cleaner to get rid of them...if you try to pick them up or squash them they will leave an orange stain behind. Hope you can clear them out of the house before they "play" much longer. :)

Are you SURE they're Lady Bugs? More than likely they're Asian beetles. Nasty things! Start spraying now, and keep spraying! You'll likely have them again next spring. They're terrible to get rid of!

Good old Asian Lady Betles instead of the cute lady bugs...we have them everywhere too every fall when the harvest starts. They do pinch, but on the plus side they don't eat the rafters or do structural damge!

I have listened to them moving in tonight. My son combined the soybean field next to the house yesterday. They fly around and hit the lamp shades. Yes--spray and vacuum. Only empty your vacuum bag outside. They will crawl back out the hose or else when you turn on the vacuum next time it will "stink" of dead bugs.

Yep. Asian beetles. As soon as the soybeans are beginning to be harvested they head for the house. We used to have the vacuum duty each night before we went to bed. Now my husband sprays the house with a product he gets at the local elevator. They will hibernate in your siding through the winter and reappear in the spring. They sure stink when you kill them.

Hello Heidi,

Good luck with it all. If they were Ladybirds you could have sent them my way. I love Ladybirds.
Happy days.

That's very weird and funny. I guess different parts of the country have their own unique pests. Is there a specific way recommended to get rid of them? Perhaps the local Home Depot would know.

Good luck! My sister had a few years where the bugs came every year! We thought the were Lady Bugs!

I like your explanation.. that's one way of saying it!

I'm not sure about Asian beetles, but Lady Bugs are great for tomato plants - they eat all the aphids and other bugs. Gooooood luck grabbing those guys!

yep, ditto its the Asian Beatles -- Dad bought something at the elevator and mixed up 55 gallons of spray -- it is save for humans and pets and kills 'em dead upon contact ... they fly into the siding, land and well, die.

we spray every other day and spray the sill plates and the basement too...they will nest in your siding if you don't control them.

the beatles not only smell but leave "tracks"...

We have them to, although, I think they're under control. At our home they usually appear in the fall and in the spring mostly in our windows. The only spray I have found that seems to control them is from McNess Company. There are probably other sprays out there that work to. I don't use it unless they're completely out of hand.

Well I thought your bugs were very sweet and was giggling at your wing flapping explanation until I read the other comments - yikes, nipping bugs are not my thing - hope you manage to solve your buggy problem :-/ oh dear.

Good thing about Asian beetles is they will not breed inside so if they are in fact not ladybugs if you find where they are coming in from and plug it they will be gone in a few days!
We had the problem for months before we found that out and finally found a little crack in the caulking around a window.

i'm so glad that i read the comments about Asian beetles- last year Auntia was bitten by what we thought was a ladybug and now she HATES them - it is good to know that they are two different things, eh? i'm sure it won't make a difference to her - she is too stubborn to change her mind ... my grandkids think that "position" is what happens when beasties play leapfrog - bwah ha ha!

that is funny......

I HATE those things. My husband, on the other hand, loves to suck them up with the vacuum. They smell like rotten peanut butter. My little girl says "Ewwww!" and swats as they fly around the kitchen.
